1. I had a bit of a shit day at work yesterday. An example: the harddrive on my computer died. Although our IS team is brilliant, I still lost half-an-hour of productive time that I really needed.
2. So I came home and had two large glasses of rum and coke, which didn't get me drunk (or even tipsy) but did relax me enough to enjoy the fic I was reading.
3. Then this morning I got up, read fic for a while, went back to bed, got up, read more fic, and then eventually got dressed just in time for waffles wot
nishtalitha made.
4. I've spent the afternoon reading fic and have just now vacuumed.
5. Now I'm drinking wine—this is a lead-in to the copious amounts of tequila I plan to drink tonight. I think after this weekend my next chance to get really drunk is Christmas. And that might not be socially appropriate, IDK.
6. Have a song: Angel of the Morning by the Pretenders. \o/

I am done with university for the year, people. It is possible I have failed both papers and will need to decide whether to retake them or give up on the degree, but. I am DONE. DONE, I say.
And in honour of the first weekend since freakin' February that I have been able to do all the things that I usually do on weekends but without feeling guilty about it all over the place and whining to my flatmates and the internet about how difficult my life is, I have... done the things that I usually do on weekends, but without feeling guilty about it all over the place.
To wit, I:

To wit, I:
- tidied my room yesterday, including semi-shelving the books I bought at Bookfair back in early September (they're not on the floor anymore! Yay!)
- had
callie and
factioncat around for lots and lots of drinking and conversations about, alternately, wenching and politics. It's the piratical way! - suffered through a vodka- and bottled margharita-induced hangover this morning. Never again with the Jose Cuevero bottled lemon shit,
callie! Never again, I say. From now we are sticking to the class that is Apple Sourz and Vodka Cruisers. - ate packet pasta stuff for lunch! Chicken curry-flavoured pasta for the motherfucking win!
- listened to a LOT of Beyonce. What?
- started cracking with a playlist for
jessikast, who wants to run places - vacuumed the entire house
- talked
tamarillow into watching vids with me and
nishatalitha into barbequing shrimps for dinner (neither of these things took much persuasion, it must be said) - read porn. For the fucking-your-mother win! :D Actually, I lie, there was no incest or talk of incest, I don't read that anymore.
- contemplated making fudge, which I might do once we haul the barbeque up from the garage
- took a bunch of pictures of the house and garden, coz it's a very sunny day here in Wellington and I'm feeling all happy or whatever-the-fuck.
- snagged episode 3 of White Collar, which I am enjoying immensely!

My life is a fucking tragedy, what.
No seriously. My plan for today was: to read the 5 cases I need to read for my mooting meeting tomorrow afternoon, make a shitton of notes, proceed to spend tomorrow morning sleeping and then make it to the meeting well-rested and prepared.
But NO. Instead today I have: eaten like 10 mini Milky Way bars (the bite sized ones!), a bowl of chocolate icecream, 2 bowls of cocoa chex with milk, and drank a can of coke. I did have casserole and toast for dinner though. Read a lot of fic, played the sims, watched part of Indiana Jones and insulted the television, wandered around a lot bemoaning my fate.
So then I went to talk to
tamarillow and found her reading fic instead of working on her 2 assignments, and then we made a STUDY PACT to get up at 8am tomorrow and do homework without turning on our computers.
Just now she was standing in the hallway and could hear me typing.
Her: you're posting, aren't you?
Me: ... yes?
Her: why must you expose our tragedy to the world?
Me: ... um.
Me: But you know I'm posting this conversation too, right?
Her: I hate you SO MUCH.
8 days of holiday to go! WHEE!

I spent 5 hours today working on mooting, including a 2-hour meeting with the others in my team. It was productive! The next meeting is on Tuesday, and I need to prepare 3 cases properly for that one. We're also forming a study group for both Torts and Contract, which will hopefully be very useful... god only knows I don't want to repeat the year (and probably wouldn't).

Saturday! I—
- wandered back and forth between bed and my computer for all the hours between 9am and 2pm
- then I showered. It was a bit cold but the pressure was awesome
- after that, I ate leftover fish lasagne for lunch
- me and C made a terrific stew out of gravy beef, potato, carrot, kumara, onion, garlic, coriander seeds, worcestershire sauce, black pepper, marjoram, thyme, and steinlager
- no seriously, terrific
- we ate it with bread. It was choice
- I read a lot of fic
- I also played 2 games of Civ IV
- we folded washing while watching music videos on C4
- I uploaded a bunch of stuff, which took ages (but I really like babbling about music, so)
- I changed my sheets, yay
- tobias turned up for headscritching, cuddles, and food several times

University is over for the semester, so for the next five weeks I have hour-long lunchbreaks. I am greatly looking forward to this.
I have had a busy past few days, and I think I should have perhaps taken a few more days off work. I'll look at my schedule for the break and talk to Boss sometime next week, I think—it feels like time for a holiday.

Things—
- I planted vegetables (okay, so it was only 2 tiny silverbeet plants) and flowers yesterday :D
- this involved pulling out the dead/dying/gone to seed summer veges in our vege garden
- hilariously, our italian parsley has gone completely WILD
- this is hilarious because we've been planning to make pesto for aaaaages and haven't
- maybe
tamarillow and I should do that tomorrow night or something - this evening I plan to make meringues using leftover egg whites
- I haven't made meringues in years and years. They are really yummy though.
- I think I might dye them green for shits and giggles. Or pink.
- probably pink.
- I plan to settle in the living room this evening and read my Opinion 3 case. Maybe while watching C4, if it's playing actual music and not shitty reality TV.
- I bought this lamp today. It was on massive sale, but I caught a taxi home and then tried to assemble it and it was missing a part. So
tamarillow and I caught a taxi back to the shop and then home again with a replacement, and that extra round trip kind of entirely negated the discount. >:| - it does make our dining room much, much brighter though.
- I think this means the only householdy shit we semi-need now are dining room chairs, a dryer vent, and curtain rails for the spare room so that people can actually sleep in there.
- it is so weird that we have a spare room with a spare bed in it!

Last week was a week of moderate academic success: I went to every class, and handed in both my stupid tutorial terms assignment for Torts AND my stupid legislation research terms assignment for Legal Research and Writing. To do in the next week: write opinion 2 for LRW; panic; go to every class.
This weekend has been a weekend of much activity: on Thursday night (which sort of counts) my flatmates and I were going to go to a free concert at Te Papa, but I ended up going to the library with
tamarillow instead and getting out some TOTALLY LEGITIMATE AND HIGH QUALITY films instead (including the horrendously shitty Anne of Green Gables: the Continuing Story, in which Gilbert goes to be a medic by the trenches of WWI and Anne crosses the Atlantic to find her husband! And then they adopt a war orphan! and also the rather brilliant version of Sense and Sensibility starring Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet).
Then on Friday there was a fandom dinner! A fandom dinner which many people I had never met before attended! I would type out that many lj names but I can't be bothered! We went to Istanbul (where I had something lovely involving chicken) and then on to Olive (where I had hot chocolate and chocolate pudding). It was AWESOME. :D
Saturday! I met up with
jessikast in town and we hung out and went to Floriditas for hot chocolate and jam donuts (verdict: jam donuts were terrif; hot chocolate was appallingly shitty and lukewarm and watery and blarg) before buying alcoholic beverages in Kelburn and coming home to make/eat roast and giggle and drink.
Today she left. :( I totally intended to get working on my stupid opinion for stupid LRW, but instead I napped and read a lot of porn. I blame the internet.

Last night I drank a lot with
clockworkflight and my flatmates—although my flatmates drank less as they are sensible people who know their limits or some shit like that.
Today I am rather hungover. Also we had KFC for dinner, which was both fantastic and disgusting. We have made a pact to go again in a couple of years.
I have requisitioned a FAIL stamp from work. It is red and in block caps. This is for legitimate testing purposes. LEGITIMATE TESTING PURPOSES.
My flatmates are currently cooking scrambled eggs for lunch. They are awesome.
That is all.

Today
tamarillow, her mother, her brother, and I made a garden - or at least made a good start on a garden. Her brother dug out the area we selected down to slightly more than a shovel blade-length and then the rest of us sorted through the massive mound of earth, got out most of the really big rocks, and then stuck the dirt back in the hole. Then
tamarillow and I put in the brick outline and called it a night. Her brother started at about 2; the rest of us got going around 5; and
tamarillow and I knocked off at around 9.30. Then I finished hanging the new curtains I picked up at Trash Palace in Porirua for $5 - they're just for the smaller of my two windows, a floral print (rose and green on cream), and I'll get some sort of stripe for the big window at some point. And we took the rubbish and recycling down to the road. And then I had a shower.
Now I am all blaaaaaaah and kind of hungry but not really. I might eat, if I can be bothered making myself cinnamon toast, or else I'll just go flop in bed and read a bad romance novel and listen to Whitney Houston until I can't focus on page or lyrics anymore.

This will be the last time I update on this computer, because my new one is being built tomorrow. It is sitting in the living room at the moment: bigger screen, more than double the harddrive space (okay, actually, I have 410GB at the moment, and the new computer has 500GB so altogether it's more than double).
I have spent the day playing Spore and doing laundry and reading fic and sleeping; we didn't unlock the door until the pizza guy came at like 8pm. That was kind of tragic, actually. And now I am going to bed: goodnight, Greta, you have been awesome.

I have been productive today! We all went to Harvey Normans and I bought a stereo - this one, to be exact - and
nishatalitha bought a DVD player since mine appears to be fucked.
tamarillow could not find a new breadmaker she likes, though: there is clearly internet searching to be done.
Then
nishatalitha and I came home and set up our shiny new playthings, and then sort of. Decided it was a good idea to sort through the morass of cords and old electronics behind the tv and throw out the clearly non-functional bits; and do dishes; and she dusted while I cleaned and tidied my bedroom. Most of the laundry for the entire household is done already; I've eaten lunch and vacuumed; I think the bathroom has been cleaned; and in about 20 minutes we're heading off to Karori to look at a flat.
It's really nice to have a stereo again. It's not a brilliant stereo but it's a significant improvement over my computer speakers - and even at a 1/4 of output it's loud enough to be heard in the kitchen, which is what I was really after. Cooking with headphones on: not smart.

My jeans feel skeezy. My other jeans are in the wash. I think I'm going to have to, like, wear work pants tomorrow as I'm racing round town buying a stereo and viewing houses in fucking Karori. This feels rather like sacrilege as it is WEEKEND and weekend is not the proper habitat of black trousers. IDK, maybe it'll make me look more respectable and people will give me discounts and/or let me rent their houses?
This weekend is going to be busy: tomorrow is the aforesaid stereo-purchasing and flat-hunting; Sunday is possibly going to a guy whose lj name I forget to cut back ivy, dependent upon what time I'm meeting
clockworkflight - uh, does 3.30pm or 4pm sound vaguely right to you, dude? I don't know that I'd feel right buying tequila any earlier, but that's never stopped me before. Monday is going to be my recovery day, and also hopefully my "getting rid of old clothes and generally tidying room" day, dependent on what time I get home and how hungover I am. PLAN.
Also I bought Spore today, which does not work on my computer but does work on
nishatalitha's, so we hung out in her room and it was like a flashback to 1998, only back then we were playing way uglier games and also not recommending each other porn. The computer thing is only relevant for the next week, because today I also bought myself a new computer (this one: not fast enough for gaming, not enough storage left for all the tv I keep meaning to watch). Greta - sans harddrives - is going to
tamarillow. It's like the circle of life!

All I've managed to do today is remake my bed with clean sheets and do some dishes. And order Hell on the internet. And watch some Time Team on my computer (which, archeology shows! Whee!). And play Civ IV and win (which, I haven't played in months; it felt like a bit of a stretch in places - not that I was playing it on a difficult level or anything, just that I had to remember what sort of moves to make).
I have decided that I'm not allowed to buy Spore until after October 21st, which is the day of my last exam for the year. This seems like a good plan - especially since I'm thinking about Sim II houses while falling asleep at the moment. Gaming: addictive. I decided that it would be fun to see what the Genius thing on iTunes is, exactly, so that's doing something to my music at the moment and seems to be taking forever over it. I have high hopes that it'll lead me in new and interesting directions, although I stopped it at about 10% earlier this evening and all the suggestions it had for me then were things I already had later on in my music collection. Should be fun, at any rate.
And I have an assignment to write tomorrow, and I turn 25 on Monday, and that's about it.

I keep buying classical albums! This week I bought an EMI compilation called 100 Best Baroque (6 discs! I've no idea if it is the best of baroque or if the artists on it are the best they could be, but whatever. Whatever) from Borders and a Gilles Apap album (Music for Solo Violin) off iTunes. There's this dude called Philip Glass who might be a composer or might be a violinist and I have a track by him (composed by him? IDEK) off another compilation album and I really like it and now I am thinking maybe I should hunt him down. Off iTunes, because that way I do not even have to leave my desk.
I kind of want to collect some opera, but I don't even know where to begin. I've got lots of musicals and a little operetta, but I want some hardcore oldschool opera (and, okay, that phrasing is hilarious in my head). But I don't know who the composers to watch out for are, or who the singers to watch out for are! Dilemma! If I pick something bad it could put me off for ages!
I got my hair cut this morning and now it is all choppy and short(er).
nishatalitha and I were meant to take the cats to the vet but there was a pet emergency and our appointment was cancelled, so we are going next week instead. Then
tamarillow and I went to see Mamma Mia! again, which was even better the second time. And I bought crappy romances from Arty Bees.
In the Oh, Wellington files: this past couple of weeks we've had a lot of rain. It's been awesome; I've been roaming round in my pink docs gleefully splashing through puddles and then bragging about it, much to the amusement of everybody who is forced to endure my company. What is not awesome is that our access path had a bit of a slip down near the bottom, and now there is this—uh, not a hole? But a bit by the side that used to be path and is now air, almost a foot wide and maybe a metre long, with a traffic cone perched on it and leaning on the now-shaky railing. It's a bit dodgy. WCC knows about it, so hopefully at some point they will come and fix it. I guess given that there were slips in Aro and Roseneath that destroyed entire backyards we're not a high priority though.
First case law test on Wednesday. I do not understand that obiter dictum shit.

I... can't remember what I've done today. There was work, and then class, and then I came home and played the Sims for ages and ages, and now my wrists kind of hurt.
tamarillow and I have made tentative plans for tomorrow: scones for lunch, with a big pot of tea (maybe with some fruit? IDK), and meatloaf with Other Things for dinner. At some point I must also do laundry. I remind myself of these things so I do not spend the day building virtual houses and forgetting to eat.
Class today was a long discussion about the meaning of "parked" and "food" and "prepare". And I typed up an Act from 1891 when I got bored at work in the early afternoon: The Employers' Liability Act. It has such awesome provisions as "Workman being illegitimate no bar to claim" and "Contracts in bar of benefits of Act to be void". It also has no punctuation, because apparently in old-style drafting the theory was that commas only created confusion. This leads to sentences hundreds of words long that have lists like "...reason of any defect or unfitness in the condition of any spars rigging tackle machinery fittings apparel or furniture of any ship or by reason of the absence of any necessary spars tackle machinery fittings or other apparel or furniture if such defect unfitness or absence could by reasonable care or diligence...." I might do breakdowns of this Act over the weekend - I figure if I can make sense of this I can make sense of anything (that might get thrown at me in a 1st year test).

—which is to say, I have spent my entire weekend wearing either my nightie or my trackpants and a hoodie, and at some times—mainly late morning—all of these things.
I have not left my house. I don't think I've even gone outside. It has been brilliant. Also I have done laundry and made fudge (which I then ate) and chocolate cake (which is in the oven RIGHT NOW, in preparation for me having tasty things to take for lunch tomorrow). And I played computer games, and I read romance novels and fanfiction, and I crocheted a little and watched NCIS and talked to my flatmates, and I slept.
Sleeping is perhaps the best thing about weekends, or at least letting myself sleep in until I naturally wake up and then getting up and bumming round on the internet and then going back to bed with my iPod is perhaps the best thing about weekends.

Wow, I totally had grand plans to go to bed earlier tonight, goddamn. *fails*
Update: went to work drinks on Friday, got home c. 2am Saturday morning in relatively sober state and then slept for about twelve hours; got up and went to see the Hulk with
tamarillow and had satay at the satay place in Courtenay Central; came home and did... something; slept another 10 hours or so on Saturday night and then spent Sunday doing... something, maybe laundry and computer games.
Work today was hilarious and also incredibly stupid: some people in another department LOST three fucking sets of um. Something they really shouldn't have lost. So we reprinted, which took basically no effort on my part and yet was still completely irritating. I randomly met up with
tofulope at lunchtime whereupon she bitched about how the students are all conspiring to ruin her life (trufax) and I bitched about how Addled Lady continues to be generally annoying and also doesn't seem to have grasped some of the fairly important bits of legislative formatting, mainly What The Quotemarks Do.
Shark week is coming. WHOO.
Also also
jessikast sent me some awesome BFF trinkets she bought someplace in Auckland and one of them has a MAGNET that probably connects to the other half of the necklace which she has and also a purple star and is made of translucent glittery plastic lacquer on top of chrome-coated tin. AWESOME. <3 There is also a yellow heart and an orange heart and a ring with pink lacquer writing saying either "best" or "friend" and something that isn't completely tacky and therefore which I cannot remember. Did I post about this already? I can't remember!
