awkward sexual advances
Saturday! I—
  1. wandered back and forth between bed and my computer for all the hours between 9am and 2pm
  2. then I showered. It was a bit cold but the pressure was awesome
  3. after that, I ate leftover fish lasagne for lunch
  4. me and C made a terrific stew out of gravy beef, potato, carrot, kumara, onion, garlic, coriander seeds, worcestershire sauce, black pepper, marjoram, thyme, and steinlager
  5. no seriously, terrific
  6. we ate it with bread. It was choice
  7. I read a lot of fic
  8. I also played 2 games of Civ IV
  9. we folded washing while watching music videos on C4
  10. I uploaded a bunch of stuff, which took ages (but I really like babbling about music, so)
  11. I changed my sheets, yay
  12. tobias turned up for headscritching, cuddles, and food several times
Now, like, I think I'm going to go to bed.

Contract test: done.
LRW case research assignment: half done (the rest is online sources).
LRW opinion #3: ahahaha, no.
Torts exam: in a month, must sort shit out.

I'm—GOD! I swear to god that my life used to be more interesting than this! I used to talk about things other than my squillion billion assignments and tests and the lectures and the cases and—my fucking LIFE.

I woke up in the dark this morning and it was poxy and then I showered and got dressed and read fic and left the house before 8; when I got into McDonalds there were a surprising number of people there, and I had a bacon and egg bagel and a hashbrown (oh god) and coke; and then I wandered to uni and chatted with a couple of classmates until it was time for the test. The test itself wasn't really that bad, once I got going: 8 short answer questions worth 5 marks each in an hour. And I'm reasonably sure I passed.

After that I went and did half my case research poxy assignment of blah and then waited for like 30 minutes for the stupid bastard Mairangi to turn up and it was cold and poxy and I am NOT AMUSED.

I think people are coming round for afternoon tea, but apart from that I'm probably going to spend my day either napping, baking, or killing other countries in a rousing game of Civ IV. There will be TANKS and possibly BOMBER JETS. I will WIN, even if I have to CHEAT.

HI GUYS

GUESS HOW MUCH I HAVE ENTIRELY FAILED TO DO ANY SORT OF STUDY THIS WEEKEND, EVEN THOUGH I WAS MEANT TO PRODUCE A FIRST DRAFT OF AN ASSIGNMENT DUE IN TWO WEEKS AND READ FOUR OTHER CASES.

YEAH.

Oh well. Back into the swing of things tomorrow; I'm sure the relentless dramarama of going to class will get me back into the mood to learn!

I... kind of stole tamarillow's computer chair today. It was one of the old dining room chairs that technically belongs to me, and my computer chair DIED A VERY SAD DEATH and she fits on the plastic lawn chairs we own! So I stole it! We really should get around to buying proper dining chairs soon. And I should see if I can get an old office chair from work. And maybe a desk. *muses*

In vastly more exciting news, I've been playing the Sims 2 a lot and didn't get up today until almost 1pm.

Merry Christmas!

awkward sexual advances
It's almost lunchtime on Christmas Day, and various relatives are due to turn up in a couple of hours. Dad roasted ham and made christmas cake and trifle yesterday, so that along with whatever the relatives bring is going to be a late afternoon feast, but I'm getting peckish - I had scorched almonds (a long-standing tradition) for breakfast a couple of hours ago.

My main gift this year is a lovely crimson satin bedspread quilt thing, with embroidery and velvet and I'm really not describing it very well. I'm also taking back to Wellington the box of books that my parents have been storing for me for the past few years (mainly non-fiction I snagged out of my grandparent's bookshelves when they died), including the seriously fantastic 1936 cookbook about 3 inches thick that includes a whole lot of instruction to the housewife, tips on how to roast whole hindquarters in front of an open fire if you don't have electricity, and a few scraps of paper with recipes in my grandmother's handwriting. From my brother I got the Creepy and Cute expansion pack for Spore (which I have been playing a LOT these last few days; I fell asleep last night thinking about angry space empires).

Uh, and then after we opened presents Brother #1 and I went and played Left 4 Dead, a shoot-em-up featuring ZOMBIE HOARDS for an hour or so this morning. Good times, good times.

I hope everyone has a super-fantastic day! :D

All I've managed to do today is remake my bed with clean sheets and do some dishes. And order Hell on the internet. And watch some Time Team on my computer (which, archeology shows! Whee!). And play Civ IV and win (which, I haven't played in months; it felt like a bit of a stretch in places - not that I was playing it on a difficult level or anything, just that I had to remember what sort of moves to make).

I have decided that I'm not allowed to buy Spore until after October 21st, which is the day of my last exam for the year. This seems like a good plan - especially since I'm thinking about Sim II houses while falling asleep at the moment. Gaming: addictive. I decided that it would be fun to see what the Genius thing on iTunes is, exactly, so that's doing something to my music at the moment and seems to be taking forever over it. I have high hopes that it'll lead me in new and interesting directions, although I stopped it at about 10% earlier this evening and all the suggestions it had for me then were things I already had later on in my music collection. Should be fun, at any rate.

And I have an assignment to write tomorrow, and I turn 25 on Monday, and that's about it.

wot's all this then?
I have been semi-productive today, although I did spend most of the afternoon gaming and forgot to eat ([info]tamarillow came and visited and I stole part of her lunch; later in the day, she came and visited and I stole half of her nectarine). But we did dishes! And made meatloaf! And I did some laundry! I have to remake my bed before I can sleep, though, which is one of the reasons I am not in my bed reading a Real Novel, even though my right index finger totally hurts from all that gaming.

On the other hand, I have a lot of hot lesbian Sims who like to make out with one another. It all balances out in the end. Also the weather has been fantastic: sunny while I was lying in bed this morning, and raining the rest of the day, so I had an excuse not to go outside. WIN!
let's ignore our mothers
I have always had trouble socializing my Sims (ahahahaah) but in this round of me playing it (I've figured out how to make custom content work properly! The game is so much prettier!) I've realised that my Sims can, like, socialize by CHATTING ON THEIR COMPUTERS. WITHOUT LEAVING THEIR HOUSES. WHOO.

I'm keeping myself awake at night - not on purpose, I swear! - designing Sim houses in my head. It's all about the architecture, baby.

game over

Well, that was the weirdest game of Civ IV I have ever played, for serious. I... don't actually know if anyone on my flist even plays Civilization, but. But. For posterity, I set up a tiny world with one opponent, as I felt like a short game, and then very quickly found myself in deep, deep shit as I'd expanded my empire way faster than my treasury would allow and now couldn't pay the bills and my soldiers were going on strike and then disbanding and my science rate was 0% and I was still losing money and then---I won a domination victory. In 10 minutes of gameplay.

I don't. Like. WHAT? Maybe it's time to play at a higher difficulty level - when I got the expansion packs I went back to playing at Chieftain, which is like the 2nd-easiest level out of I think 8 or 9. I'd been playing the original at Noble, which is (IDEK if anyone knows what I'm talking about! YAY!) supposed to be the most balanced level and I found it pretty hard. Strategy games involve lots of thinking! Woe!

So, IDK. Maybe it's time to test my skills at Beyond the Sword a little more. I don't know what I'm meant to be doing with the spies yet, though.

Last night I ended up playing the Sandbox scenario in Pharoah, which was much fun. It's the easist city-building scenario, with no win conditions and no military activity at all. So far, I've got it up to just over 5000 residents, and I think I'll play with one of the slightly more difficult scenarios next time I have a few hours to spare.

Today I went shopping. Actually, I got woken up by someone wanting [info]jessikast to babysit for them, so I got up and messed around online for a little while before getting dressed and watching Dr. Phil. Then we went shopping, first to Dressmart, where I tried on black patent stilettos and various people bought clothing, and then out to Porirua, where everyone except me bought things, because I had no money and aren't really looking for anything except some new jeans and perhaps a couple of pairs of trousers (which I might see if I can get my mother to buy).

Tonight, Spooks, although I do need to get hold of [info]bl9_knt first. And also dinner, and cleaning the flat, for we have a flat inspection tomorrow.

Me Tired

Work reasonably interesting, what with there being people about and everything. Made a bonus, and am beginning to think that commuting to the Hutt on Sundays is far preferable to working in Newtown. Sure, Newtown is closer, but it's a shorter shift - the extra one and a half hours in Lower Hutt more than pays for my bus ticket, plus I'm making a bonus every week.

After work, caught the bus out to Eastbourne, where [info]jessikast's mother cooked us dinner and we looked at photo albums and listened to the Moody Blues. Much fun for all, and then back to Wellington, where I bought chocolate icecream, we watched CSI, and then we played the first four levels of Pharoah. Or three; I can't remember.

I'm very tired now, so I'm going to check my flist and then go to bed. Mmm, bed.
